Prep the Hair- Dry Shampoo

If you have recently washed your hair and it is smooth and slippery consider spraying dry shampoo on your hair. It will ass a little texture and really helps hold the curl. My favorite brand is Batiste.

Use the right tools

Most curling irons purchased at Target or Walmart just are not hot enough. Buy a pro brand that gets hotter. I love the bran Hot Tools. I use the 1 1/2 inch barrel for larger loose curls.

Hair Spray

Find a good moveable hold hairspray (that way you get the hold without helmet head). I love brocato moveable hold hairspray. Spray each piece before you curl it to help it hold. When you are done curling, spray all your hair again.

Let it Set

This is key After you finish curling your hair be sure to let it cool before loosening any curls or fluffing them. No one wants tight ringlets but if you wait till your hair cools you will see a big difference in how long it lasts.

Master your Technique

There are several techniques for curling your hair. You can let it slide through your hair, wrap it around the curling iron, search youtube for a quick tutorial and then try it out and see if you like. Like anything you do that is new, practice practice practice.
